Mr. Knight has extensive experience in the financial services industry. From 2001 to 2006, he was the first Commissioner for the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada. His mandate was to oversee the $3.24 trillion dollar financial services’s sector market conduct. He received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for excellence in Public Service on behalf of Canada.
Prior to the Agency, he was the president and CEO of Credit Union Central of Canada where he undertook a number of strategic initiatives, to position credit unions competitively to the banks.
In the early 70’s, Mr. Knight distinguished himself as one of the youngest Members of Parliament when he was elected to the House of Commons.
He is a member of a number of corporate and volunteer boards including the Vancity Community Investment Bank of Canada, Assuris, and the Broadbent Institute.
