As Tree Canada gears up for our largest National Tree Day ever on Wednesday, September 21st, 2022, we know that individuals, communities and organizations across the country are also getting ready to celebrate trees with us.

This year we are hosting community planting events in 12 cities across the country – at least one event in every province. We look forward to these events for the opportunity to meet Tree Canada’s community in person while planting trees! That’s why it’s so important to us that all participants have a great experience at the planting events.

To help make that a reality, here is a breakdown of what to expect at each event:

What To Expect

  • You can expect to plant trees alongside other members of your community, Tree Canada experts, and local employees from our presenting sponsor, BMO.
  • You will learn how to plant and care for urban trees so they provide benefits for years to come. We’ll provide the gloves and shovels!
  • Tree Canada experts and volunteers will be there to provide support and answer your tree questions.
  • A photographer of course! These events are the highlight of our year and we’d be remiss not to capture them. We’ll post the photos on our website, so you can share and download them.

What to Wear and Bring

  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots
  • Long pants
  • Water bottle
  • Weather-appropriate attire

Remember, this event is on rain or shine! Wet soil will actually make it easier to dig holes for the trees you plant!

Let’s Celebrate!

Registration to participate in one of Tree Canada’s community planting events is open until Wednesday, September 14th.

If you can’t attend a Tree Canada community planting event, there are other ways to celebrate:
