The upcoming Canadian Urban Forest Conference from October 5 to 7, 2020 is in Charlottetown, PEI and will be a forum where city and park planners, architects, arborists, researchers and health scientists may learn and share with a vision of building a better future for Canada’s urban forests. The CUFC 2020 theme is Urban Forests in a Changing Climate: Building Resilience.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS – EXTENDED TO MARCH 10, 2020
There is still an opportunity to submit your abstract to CUFC 2020! For a positive consideration by the review and evaluation panel, proposals MUST demonstrate a direct link with the conference title – Urban Forests in a Changing Climate: Building Resilience – with one or more of the sub-themes:
1. Carbon offsets and pricing
2. Effects of climate change on urban forests
3. Genetics and tree selection
4. Information technology
5. Integration of grey and green infrastructure
6. Invasive alien species
7. Landscape design and engineering
8. Mitigation and adaptation
9. Role of urban forests in climate change
10. Social and cultural values
11. Trees interact with Climate

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: CANADIAN URBAN FORESTRY AWARDS
Know someone who is demonstrating excellence in Urban Forestry? Every year, we recognize outstanding companies, groups, and individuals who are making a difference for the environment and trees, whether locally or across Canada.
Royal Galipeau Award of Distinction: recognizes excellence in leadership and significant contributions in Canadian urban forestry over a minimum of ten years.
Public Education Award: recognizes excellence in furthering the understanding of urban forestry issues and/or encouraging best practices in the urban forestry sector. This award is open to individuals, the media or organizations.
Urban Forestry Youth Volunteer Award : recognizes outstanding volunteer services in urban forestry to the community by young Canadians between the ages of 15-24.
Urban Forestry Student Bursary: is available to students in Canada who have a strong interest in and dedication for urban forestry as demonstrated by their academic, volunteerism and extra-curricular activities. The bursary will pay the hotel, travel, meals and registration expenses for a full-time student to attend the Canadian Urban Forest Conference.

The Canadian Urban Forest Conference brings together leading experts from across the country and allows for dialogue between professionals and community groups on innovative strategies, policies, technologies, research, and best management practices. Alternating coast to coast every two years, the CUFC brings together dedicated individuals and groups to share their experiences and novel approaches to the stewardship of Canada’s urban forests. The CUFC is coordinated by the host city with guidance and support from Tree Canada.
