IT Application Specialist

Tree Canada is looking to hire an IT Application Specialist who will be responsible for data cleaning, support, maintenance, generating analytics reports, assisting in IT application implementations, and be the super admin and super user for all “Commercial off the shelf” (COTS systems).

Salary Range: $65,000 – $85,000

Job Summary/Purpose:

Are you an IT professional who is a problem solver, critical thinker, and team player who wants to support organizations going through growth and change? Tree Canada is looking to hire an IT Application Specialist to oversee the support and maintenance of its IT applications. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will be responsible for data cleaning, support, maintenance, generating analytics reports, assisting in IT application implementations, and be the super admin and super user for all “Commercial off the shelf” (COTS systems). This role involves training staff and providing ongoing support to ensure optimal use of our IT applications. Additionally, cybersecurity testing, response, compliance, and reporting is a responsibility of this role.

Areas of Responsibility:

IT applications (85%):

  • Oversee, troubleshoot, triage, and serve as a liaison with external consultants to support and maintain all IT applications
    • Monitor and respond to the IT support ticketing system, escalate for additional support when needed
    • Respond to user inquiries and provide timely technical support
    • Ensure applications are running smoothly and troubleshoot any issues that arise
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all application vendors
    • Be the super admin and super user for COTS systems
    • Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors
    • Coordinate and communicate application issues and enhancements with vendors
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for application updates and upgrades to ensure seamless integration of new features
    • Develop and maintain documentation for system administration and user guides
  • Support data cleaning and ensure data integrity across all applications
  • Generate and analyze reports to provide insights and support decision-making processes
  • Assist in the implementation and integration of new IT applications
    • Work with project teams to ensure successful application rollouts
    • Participate in testing and validation of new applications and updates
  • Train staff on the use of IT applications and provide ongoing support
  • Participate in inter-departmental meetings, working groups, committees and projects as required
  • Create, manage and update documentation like Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

 

Security (15%):

  • Ensure applications comply with IT security policies and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute as key member of the Cybersecurity incident report management system committee
  • Support team members with cybersecurity incidents
  • Manage user permissions, roles, and access levels
  • Address gaps coming from IT audits
  • Ensure all electronic files are appropriately backed-up
  • Ensure applications comply with IT security policies and regulatory requirements

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience acting as IT administrator for an organization and providing IT application technical and training support to an employee team
  • Experience with data/file cleaning, records/data management and analytics reporting
  • Understanding of cyber security best practices
  • COTS configuration management
  • Ability to initiate and operationalize IT service request process and provide ongoing IT service and support to multiple internal stakeholders
  • Ability to train and support staff effectively
  • Experience with CRM systems
  • Knowledge of SQL, databases, and reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service, crisis management and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, computer science, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in IT application support, maintenance, and COTS configuration management
  • Strong understanding of COTS systems and their administration
  • Proficient in data cleaning, maintenance, and analytics reporting
  • Certifications in ITIL or relevant fields
  • Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered
