Denise Chang-Yen is the Business Development Manager, Power and Renewables for Shell, with its Canadian headquarters in Calgary, AB.
Denise joined Shell in 2008, where she has held increasingly senior roles across a variety of areas including: business development, renewable energy development, joint venture governance, Indigenous Relations, non-technical risk assessment and integration into project plans, climate change and carbon offsets advocacy. As part of Shell’s New Energies line of business, she is currently responsible for clean power business development in the Americas.
Prior to Shell, Denise worked at EPCOR taking on senior roles within the contexts of power marketing to Commercial and Industrial customers, renewable energy development, energy efficiency and sustainable development.
Denise received her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and holds a Professional Engineer designation. She is a former co-Chair of the Industry Provincial Offsets Group and the Clean Air Strategic Alliance Energy Efficiency and Conservation Sub-Committee.
Denise resides in Calgary, where in her spare time volunteers with Kindness in Action. In 2017, she successfully planned and led the organization’s first dental mission to Morocco. She also enjoys weight lifting, hiking, snow shoeing, running, yoga, Bollywood dance, reading, and travel – especially to places with rainforests.
