Reforestation & Carbon Offsetting

Restoring our forests helps wildlife habitat and also helps fight climate change. Our reforestation and carbon offsetting efforts help make cleaner soil, cleaner waterways and shorelines and also help sequester millions of tons of carbon pollution.

What is Tree Canada doing to reforest our country and offset carbon pollution?

We believe in taking concrete steps to fight climate change and preserve our country’s green spaces.

Since 1992, we’ve planted more than 83 million trees and sequestered millions of tons of carbon pollution in the process. Every year we deliver mass plantings in each of Canada’s five major regions; Atlantic & North, Québec, Ontario, the Prairies and British Columbia.

National Greening Program

Our National Greening Program is our carbon compensation and mass seedling planting program across Canada. We target areas where there is a need for reforestation or afforestation due to human activity or other causes. Tree Canada guarantees these plantings follow our Operational Guidelines and conducts 1, 2 and 5 year survival assessments of all planting sites.

Grow Clean Air

Our Grow Clean Air program allows Canadians and businesses to offset their carbon pollution the natural way, by planting of trees. Our plantings under this program are conducted under our rigorous carbon protocol to ensure the highest standards are always met. This allows us to guarantee within a high degree of certainty how much carbon you have offset as we move towards the goal of becoming carbon neutral.
