Growing a Greener Future with Dairy Farmers of Canada

Tree Canada

At Tree Canada, we believe that meaningful environmental action is rooted in collaboration. That’s why we’re proud to be working alongside Dairy Farmers of Canada — a national partner helping us grow a greener, healthier future for communities and landscapes across the country.

Together we launched a pilot program to support tree planting directly on Canadian dairy farms. This initiative helped select farmers complete mass seedling plantings that are projected to support long-term improvements in biodiversity, soil quality, and climate resilience.

Planting trees on agricultural land can improve soil health, air and water quality, and create valuable habitat for wildlife. It also plays an important role in supporting the dairy farmers sustainability efforts as they continue to work towards reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

These trees are expected to sequester carbon over time and enhance the climate resilience of participating farms — helping move closer to a low-carbon future. Officially launched in 2024 with a national outreach campaign targeting dairy farmers and is continuing through 2025.

Long-term Partnerships

Our collaboration with Dairy Farmers of Canada is helping to re-establish rural forests and enhance green infrastructure. In 2024, we planted 48,016 trees together, while our partnership to date has seen over 190,000 trees planted right here in Canada. Thanks to long-term partnerships like this, Tree Canada can bring complex projects to life and increase our impact in meaningful ways.

By combining our expertise in forestry and greening with the leadership of Canadian dairy farmers, we are planting more than trees — we’re contributing to environmental stewardship.

We’re grateful for Dairy Farmers of Canada’s continued support and look forward to growing this partnership in the years to come. Together, we’re advancing a shared vision for a healthier, more sustainable future.
