Tree Canada and CN announce the 27 recipients awarded grants of up to $25,000 for the CN EcoConnexions Tree Planting program.

May 31, 2018 (Halifax, NS) — CN (TSX: CNR) (NYSE: CNI) and Tree Canada, Canada’s leading national tree-planting charity, are pleased to announce today the names of the 27 communities that are being awarded community tree planting grants of up to $25,000. Representatives from FCM, CN and Tree Canada will make this announcement as part of the 2018 annual meeting of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) in Halifax, NS where a legacy tree planting event will take place at the Grand Parade park on June 3rd at 2:30PM to honour the City of Halifax and Mayor Mike Savage for hosting the conference.
These grants are a part of the CN EcoConnexions – From the Ground Up initiative that invests in community greening projects across Canada. Of the more than 140 applications received from Canadian communities of all types and sizes, the 27 winning communities are:

Thanks to CN’s environmental leadership, the CN EcoConnexions From the Ground Up initiative has been greening communities since 2012 with sustainable, environmentally responsible tree-planting projects. Tree Canada experts work closely with communities to assist with logistics, species selection and to make each project an opportunity for community members to gather and celebrate the benefits of trees and urban green spaces. A community event to commemorate the initiative will take place in each of the selected communities.
