Tree Canada’s “Operation ReLeaf – ReCover BC” program will provide funding to replant trees on publicly accessible lands. Eligibility for funding requires that the land fall under municipal authority, including First Nation communities.
Community planting projects must meet at least one of the following objectives:
I. Replanting of burned trees and vegetation with FireSmart and native tree species, adhering to FireSmart principles.
II. Planting FireSmart and native trees and shrubs to stabilize slopes in regions at increased risk of landslides due to the wildfires.
III. Planting FireSmart and native trees and shrubs that offer food or medicine to replace those lost due to the wildfires.
