Natalie Jackman
Natalie is an ISA Certified Arborist and ISA Qualified Tree Risk Assessor and currently works with Halifax Regional Municipality’s Urban Forestry Division as a Contract Supervisor. She kickstarted her journey in Urban Forestry in 2016 as a student researcher during her masters of resource and environmental management at Dalhousie University, where she focused on analyzing the effectiveness of the municipality’s cyclical pruning program. She also holds diplomas in arboriculture and urban forestry from Fleming College. She has spent time working as a program coordinator in the nonprofit sector and has worked for a couple of different private tree care companies in both Ontario and Nova Scotia. In her current role with the municipality, she oversees a variety of operations primarily pertaining to tree planting, proactive and reactive juvenile and mature tree maintenance, tree removal, tree inventory work, and rural vegetation management. She is passionate about synchronizing operations with her vision for a diverse, equitable, and robust urban forest in Halifax.
