National Tree Day Events

Jamieson Park Tree Trimming

Event Description

Our Fall River Garden Club has built and maintained this park for 25 years. There are flower gardens, many benches a bird bath, and several paths through the wooded area which takes up about 1/2 of the area. There are 6 apple trees which we planted in the late 1800’s and still producing lots of fruit.

We keep these and many of the other trees trimmed and health and in a natural state. There are also many different berry bushes and area left for wildlife. The park is well used by the local community and 2 years ago we installed a 7ft. colour metal sculpture of a Monarch butterfly on a milkweed flower. It is situated between an Elementary School and a Junior High and is used by the children and as a teaching space for nature. There is a wide variety of tree species. We have placed many different sizes and types of bird nesting boxes and bat houses in the trees.

Each year our Club holds a plant sale and a good portion of the funds go to Maintenance of this and 2 other smaller gardens we maintain in the area.

On tree day we will hold park clean up with many of our 45 members and trim up any trees that require it.
