Event Description
Tree Canada, with the support of Forêt Capitale Forest, is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. This is the biggest NTD celebration yet, with events taking place across the country during National Forest Week. Join us at Remic Rapids Park to plant trees and connect with nature!
Volunteers will participate in planting 400 native species trees, as well as mulch and water to the newly planted trees.
You’ll be guided by Tree Canada experts and experienced volunteers who will be on hand to support you and answer your tree-related questions. We’ll provide gloves and shovels—all you need to bring is your enthusiasm!
Remic Rapids Park is located on the Ottawa River. It is known for its natural beauty and unique rock sculptures. The park offers scenic views of the river, the city skyline, and the Gatineau shoreline. It’s a popular spot for walking, biking, and enjoying the outdoors, with trails that connect to the larger Capital Pathway. The park is also home to a collection of balanced rock sculptures created by artist John Felice Ceprano, which are a major attraction. In celebration of National Tree Day and in alignment with the National Capital Commission’s Forest Strategy, Forêt Capitale Forest is rallying volunteers to plant 400 native trees—helping restore local biodiversity and climate resilience right in the heart of the capital. As part of our mission to grow a greener Ottawa, we’ll also be spreading mulch and watering newly planted trees to give them the best possible start. Join us in turning shovelfuls of soil into a lasting legacy for generations to come.
